My best friend and I traveled through Europe in the early 70's on $5 a day. While hitchhiking in Italy we met 2 pro soccer players at a roadside pizza place. We asked them if they were headed to Bologna after chatting a bit. They weren't, so we said our goodbyes and watched them drive off. Sometime later, not long, they came back for us and said they'd changed their minds. Not only did they drive us to Bologna, but they took us for a spaghetti and wine dinner, then dropped us at a local campsite where we rented a cheap cabin to sleep in overnight. They were fun, kind and respectful and never once wanted anything more than our company.

That's such a lovely and beautiful story. I wish more people would share these kind of heartwarming experiences. 🌸

Thank you Chingmay. When I look back on 2 young women hitchhiking across Europe I'm amazed that we were so brave and adventurous, but perhaps we were just very naive. Anyway, life was very different back then. We had such a great time and met many wonderful people along the way and saw beautiful cities, countrysides, art, famous monuments, beaches, and much more. It was one of the most exciting experience of my life.

I had that kind of experience too. I have to say, I liked my era when things were less convenient and technologically advanced.

Me, too. And the world was kinder then.

I agree. And less complicated.

It's really remarkable how a small act of kindness from someone can somehow patch up your mood and drag you out of the haze. I guess life's beautiful when people show more kindness.
