Your feelings are so relatable and so movingly and genuinely described. I've also read many afterlife books and have a strong desire to contact my grandmother (a mother to me). I am going to contact Tyler Henry one of these days. Do you know about Tyler Henry? If not, you can Google him and watch his medium works for others on Netflix.
I am so glad for you that your mother finally came to you on her birthday.
I went deep into medium research during this dark time so I am surprised to say I have not heard of Tyler Henry! Thank you for the rec, I will check him out.
Thanks so much for your kind words and for reading. Connecting with others makes the hard part of writing through these feelings worth it.
Sorry for your loss. You were truelly close to your mother in spirit. My mother visits me at home, I can smell her Salems while I watch tv some evenings.
Hi Delaney - I found your post so touching. Having lost many family members, especially my sister at a young age, I can totally identify with your feelings of grief and wanting so badly to connect with them after they have passed from our lives. Thank you for sharing this with us. I invite you to come by my Substack, “The Wistful Neo-Druid” and get to know me and my writing. I have never been published and have long ago given up; I write now for the sheer pleasure of expressing those thoughts that matter to me the most, now especially because I have inoperable ovarian cancer. Lovely to e-meet you.
Such a moving description of grief and the love that existed between you and your mother. It made me long to have had a similar relationship with my own mother.
So I learned that robins, especially males, are very territorial. The likely reason for this robin thrashing against the window for hours was that it saw its own reflection, and thought it was another robin encroaching on its space. Since the window was a small basement egress, we pinned up a plain dark dish towel from the inside, which worked to stop creating a reflection (didn't want the robin to hurt itself!).
I am do glad that you could feel her come back to you, on her birthday.

I would like to share a similar essay with you. No obligation to read it.😊 https://medium.com/the-wind-phone/grandma-came-to-my-dream-again-5d696fd8c0b8

Love this. The scent of my grandmother is so strong sometimes, I know she's visiting me!

Thank you Renee❤️
I loved this. My only question is, what did you do about the robin?
Thank you Denise!
