The Memoirist Opens Second Publication Location on Substack
We Did It!
Change is hard. But it can also be exciting!
I started my foray into publishing a few years ago when I created The Memoirist on Medium.
Since then, it has grown into a highly successful creative non-fiction publication. I also developed The Memoirist Quarterly, a print journal featuring memoirists and artists (which I plan to bring back to life very soon).
As I started publishing my work more and more on Substack, I started thinking about The Memoirist and giving building a community a shot here as well. I know many great writers who have recently made the move to Substack and I’d love to help provide a home for some of the wonderful stories they have to tell, in addition to reaching a new audience of readers.
I’m heading into this slowly and cautiously. But I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
What to Expect
My vision is to create a magazine-style substack site that features the work of many writers that will be sent out to our imaginary email list. We will have a chat site and I’m thinking about creating a podcast featuring writers talking about and reading their work. Additionally, all work submitted to The Memoirist on Substack will be considered for the next print version of The Memoirist Quarterly (which pays modestly).
All posts will be free to read, but paid subscriptions are highly welcome to help support the editing and promotion that goes into the publication.
Write for The Memoirist
Send me a direct message so I can add you to the The Memoirist’s dashboard as a contributor.
Once you are accepted, you should be able to see The Memoirist in your Dashboard drop-down on the top right hand of your screen.
Copy your draft post—do not publish—into The Memoirist. Previously published pieces are welcome.
I will review your post and schedule it for publishing.
